I began and completed my studies in my hometown, the Medical School of the University of Crete in 2002. As a student, after exams, I visited the ENT Clinic of Harvard University and was impressed by the breadth of the ENT specialty.
I started and completed my specialty from 2005 to 2010 at the University Clinic of Erlangen, which is one of the three largest ENT Clinics in Germany with 90 beds and 6 operating rooms daily.
After my training in general surgeries of the specialty (tonsillectomy, septoplasty, etc.), I was particularly trained in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and in gland surgery, especially of the Parotid and Thyroid glands.
In July 2010, I successfully passed the exams and received the title of ENT specialist and continued to work as a second-year supervisor and from December 2013 as a first-year supervisor at the Erlangen clinic. I was trained and specialized in surgical oncology, especially in intraoral tumor surgery with Laser without external incisions and in reconstructive plastic surgery with both pedicle and free flaps.
I trained with a special scholarship in Thyroid Surgery at the University Clinic in Prague and then organized and in 2012 became Head of the Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery Department in Erlangen, performing more than 150 operations until my departure from the clinic in 2014.
The clinic of Erlangen has one of the largest and most specialized cervical ultrasound centers in Germany. In 2010, trained under the guidance of Prof. Zenk for 6 months in Head and Neck Ultrasound with emphasis on the Parotid, Thyroid and Cervical Lymph Nodes.
I now use Ultrasound on a daily basis in the diagnosis and preoperative preparation of procedures such as Thyroidectomy and Parotidectomy.
In total, I have performed more than 10,000 ultrasound examinations and I am the first hospital doctor in Greece recognized by the Ministry of Health for performing and training ENT Doctors in Head and Neck Ultrasound .
In March 2014, I accepted Professor Zenk 's invitation and was appointed Deputy Director and Deputy Director of the University Clinic of Augsburg..
At the Augsburg Clinic I was responsible for the surgical treatment of patients with head and neck tumors, especially Parotid, Thyroid and Larynx. I also often chaired the weekly oncology board of the clinic. In total, as deputy director of the Clinic, I performed more than 1000 oncological operations and more than 100 flaps.
On average, from 2010 to 2019, I performed more than 400 surgeries per year, in all areas of the ENT specialty mainly in the areas of Head and Neck Glands (Parotid, Thyroid), Larynx, Otology and Pediatrics.
In May 2018 , I was elected full professor of Otolaryngology at the University Clinic of Ioannina, where I was sworn in and assumed duties in April 2019 under the direction of Professor Mr. Ioannis Kastanioudakis.
In September 2022, I took over the management of the ENT clinic of the University Hospital of Ioannina, in a clinic that now has 7 residents and and 6 specialized doctors and covers the widest range of Head and Neck surgery.
In addition, since 2021 I have started collaborating with the largest private hospitals in Greece, such as IASO Thessaly and Athens, the Inter-Balkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki and the Euromedica General Clinic of Thessaloniki, to perform specialized surgical procedures.

We participate as a clinic in a multicenter study on the importance of HPV in oropharyngeal cancer and we are the 2nd center nationwide in number of patients. In addition, we continue research protocols and the importance of Elastography in head and neck ultrasound as well as the importance of Neuromonitoring in parotid and thyroid surgery. In October 2022, I organized the 1st Seminar on Diagnostic and Interventional Ultrasound in Ioannina, which you repeat with great success every year.
As part of my dissertation on the Epidemiology, I attended a series of seminars (80 hours) on University Teaching and obtained a title of University Teaching Efficacy. I also participated in the PERLE program and was the sole responsible for the course "In-depth ENT examination", in which students were taught the use of rigid and flexible endoscopes , ear microscopy and the use of ultrasound in the cervix.
As part of my duties as an assistant professor at the University of Munich LMU from 2014 onwards, I had the main responsibility for the content and delivery of the course "ENT Oncological Diseases" and participated in the courses "ENT clinical examination" and "ENT case presentation".
In Augsburg I was responsible for: weekly courses for the hospital students doing their 5th year clinical internship, the training of the students who are in our clinic and the postgraduate courses for the residents.
